Last nights training session saw the introduction of new signing Craig “killer” McAuley to the squad (well kind of introduction – the gaffa basically said “this is Craig”). It was a baptism of fire for the new boy as club fitness coach Totty Sholeman put on a tough training session whilst chomping on a number 47 and a 28 from China Spice.

Young Seeton wins trainer of the week award for struggling with numbers and cones, he may have to put in some extra hours after training with the clubs (allegedly) cleverest player Andy Blackwell.

The squad embarks on it’s pre-season tour to Benidorm at 3am on Thursday morning and the gaffa will make sure the lads fluid levels remain topped up to avoid dehydration.

For the reserves, veteran defender Phil Littlewood put an end to weeks of speculation by signing on the dotted line. He will bring a wealth of experience and a bag of defenders dirty tricks, and will be a welcome addition to help strengthen the problem position of left back (with the club currently having 5 on their books!).

Cracks Starting to Appear Before Season Even Starts?

With pre-season not even started yet, sources from within the club are already talking about dissension in the ranks between the first team and the newly formed reserves team. News reached northamptonutd.co.uk that the first team had set a private first preseason training session, which was only revealed to new reserve team gaffer, Dr Neil “Peath” Lewis by a first team supergrass who was cloaked in a seal of privacy (and denim).

First team gaffa Karl Parsons was quick to quash any rumours at a hastily arranged press conference late this afternoon in a phone box in St James. “It’s simply a matter of miscommunication”, said the spindly manager. “We were lead to believe that the reserves wanted to train on their own in town, but having spoke to Das Kaiser, we now realise that everyone would like to get a good team preseason under our belts.”

Reserve team manager was unavailable to attend the press conference due to scouting commitments, but via live phone link (on an appaling phone line, we can only assume he was in central Africa at the time) he said “mmmmmmm, we joined Northampton Utd to continue the fine tradition of the club and enable mates to continue to play together. MMMmmm we look forward to both teams doing well next season, in what will be a ground breaking year for the mmmmm club.”

Exciting times indeed.

Training starts tomorrow (10/07/08) at Errington Park in Duston.

Town training will start on Sundays at the Racecourse at the start of August – everyone is welcome.
